The oldest East German washing powder brand still on the market.
milwa is a washing powder brand with a long tradition from Saxony-Anhalt; the name stands for “mildwirkendes Waschmittel” – a mild-acting detergent. In 1972 the brand came to Prettin on the Elbe – and every milwa washing powder has been made here ever since, without interruption.
Until 1990, the legendary MILWA 73 was also made here. It was very popular because it was gentle on the skin, and was mostly used for cotton baby nappies.
Today milwa comprises almost a dozen laundry products – the most successful are milwa compact (concentrated all-purpose detergent) and milwa color (concentrated colour detergent). Since 1997, all milwa washing powders have been manufactured and distributed by SCHLADITZ milwa GmbH in Prettin.

In response to growing demand, we also make milwa powders and laundry gels for the Ukrainian market. Working with our exclusive distribution partner LLC “LUKSKHIMIYA”, the products reach consumers in specially designed packaging.
Known for PIADOR ANTIKALK.
Before 1990, various liquid and powder washing and cleaning products were made under the piador name. The water softener and detergent booster PIADOR ANTIKALK was especially well known and sought after.
Around 1992, production in Wittenberg ended. Almost by chance, piador was “reborn” in 1993 when production moved to Prettin. Only a fraction of the original piador family survived: PIADOR FLECKENSALZ, PIADOR ANTIKALK and PIADOR SOFORTENTKALKER are made today by SCHLADITZ milwa GmbH in Prettin.

Antikalk Water softener for washing machines
Named after our town.
The Prettina brand dates back to the 1920s and was first used by C. M. Schladitz of Prettin/Elbe. The name was derived from the town of Prettin and was always meant to show the regional link to the company’s home.
Cosmetic and cleaning products were marketed under Prettina until around 1950, when fundamental economic and political changes took place in eastern Germany. The brand was only revived after 1990. Today, Schladitz milwa GmbH makes various all-purpose and speciality detergents and a stain salt under the Prettina name – including for large-scale users.
